Recent grocery sighting

Bought these apples during the lunch hour at Cold Storage:

Ambrosia apples, from Canada (grown in BC)

Photobucket

The apple producer's website has some interesting information on a variety of apples, pears, berries and fruit-related recipes.

Photobucket
The apple is sweet and just crunchy (not as hard as the Washingtons)

Other grocery sightings. :

Is this langsat??

Interesting new product - blended herbs in a tube!

Photobucket
There's blended coriander, mint, basil, rosemary, etc. in a gel-like form, but all have rather short shelf lives (expires in Jun '08). How to use up all within such a short time?

The ambrosia in season now, very nice isn't it, Aunty P.
We are looking forward to the Cherry, blueberries, strawberries season sometime in may/june.
right now most strawberries available here are from California.

Ya, the ambrosia apple is nice, but not common and rather expensive. The normal price before discount is $5.95 for 8 apples, after discount is $4.95.

We get a lot more of those royal galas, and some french / african apples, on average, for 60 to 70 cents each apple.

The herb paste is better than raw herbs because it blends into soups and stuffs easily and can keep longer vs the herbs.....

Oh ya, fresh herbs don't keep well, but dried herbs can be kept for more than a year...more economical if you don't use much of them.

Have you tried the tubed herb paste?
