Dragonfruit aka Pitaya

I had this dragonfruit and jackfruit over the weekend.

Dragon fruit (red flesh) - which has a bit more flavour than the white fleshed ones, which can taste rather bland if they're not sweet.

In contrast to the light-tasting dragonfruit, the jackfruit was strong in smell, taste, very sweet and flavourful.

Picture of the whole fruit, with easy-to-peel skin.

More photos and information on Wikipedia.

There is also a yellow-skinned dragonfruit, but I've yet to try it coz it's more expensive.

Ah, I only had tried the white fleshed one. Never seen any red fleshed or yellow skin dragonfruit before.
Hmm..sweet sweet Jackfruit.

If they're not sweet, the white-fleshed ones taste very bland...blah! The red-fleshed one has this purple juice which one has gotta be a bit careful with the garments.

EJ, do you still eat durian? Or do you still like it? I used to eat it as a kid, but now I hardly eat it (SO doesn't like it)...makes me feel bloated.

Same as you , Aunty P. Eat lots of durians as a kid. Never eaten any while here, doesn't miss it. Willis never like the durian's smell. The ones sold here are mostly one whole unopened fruit and always in the freezer section.
